Why are yearbooks so expensive?
Each yearbook costs CB West about $85 from the publisher. This is due to the hard cover and full color layout. Books with color printing on every page are expensive to produce!
If yearbooks cost you $85, how can you sell them at reduced prices during the school year?
We take a loss on all books sold prior to January, because it's better for us in the long run to determine earlier how many we will need to order! We make up for this loss through our sale of Baby Bucks and "leftovers".
Why are Baby Bucks due in November?
The yearbook is NOT created in order! The Baby Bucks section is on our first publishing deadline, so all photos and messages are due in November to give the staff time to place them in the layout in alphabetical order. Once the section is finished, it goes to publication, where Jostens prints the pages and stores them until the rest of the yearbook is complete!
Why don't you include EVERY senior's baby photo?
As mentioned above, the sale of Baby Bucks helps keep the cost down early in the year. In addition, we typically have over 500 graduating seniors, so there is just not enough room!
What does it mean to pre-order?
Pre-orders are accepted through April. Payment is required to reserve a book. Once pre-orders are closed, we are no longer able to "save" books for individual students.
I forgot to pre-order. Can I still get a yearbook?
We sometimes have a few boxes of extra yearbooks for sale AFTER pre-ordered books have been distributed. These are on sale for $90 during the last week of school and before graduation.
I forgot to get my Senior Photo. Will I still be in the yearbook?
If seniors forget to attend the summer photo session, there is one "Last Chance" sitting in September. If you do not attend the last sitting, you can go to the CADY Studio in Horsham to have your senior photo taken. If this is before the cut off of Oct 31, it will appear in the yearbook. Make sure to tell your photographer to email it to Mrs. Ferraro if the rest of the senior photos have already been sent. If the senior did not have a portrait taken, their name will appear under "Not Photographed" in the Senior Section.
I forgot to choose my Senior Photo pose for the yearbook. Will I still be in the yearbook?
If seniors have taken senior photos but forget to choose a pose (tux or drape) for the yearbook, CADY will choose one for you. Only this pose will be sent to the Yearbook Adviser and staff.
I want to get retakes for my portrait! When do I need to have it done by?
Retakes for underclassmen photos are usually in October so that they are included in the files sent to the yearbook from the photographer. If you miss retake day, or missed having your photo taken, you may get photos through the end of October (Seniors- at CADY Studio, Underclassmen- at C&C Photo Studio) to be included in the yearbook. Anyone who goes to the studio past October 31 may be included in the "late sittings" at the end of the section and will not appear alphabetically. All portraits MUST be received by the end of January to be included. All portrait sections go to publication by the last day of January. Email the adviser (sferraro@cbsd.org) for more information!
I don't go by my given name. Can my nickname appear in the yearbook?
Since yearbooks are a public record, 一本道's policy is to use the name that the student is registered under. If you go by an alternative name, contact your house principal and guidance counselor for official name change approval. Then, contact the yearbook production adviser (sferraro@cbsd.org) to let the yearbook staff know.
I believe my child qualifies for a free yearbook. Who should I contact?
Please contact your house principal and copy Mrs. Banks (mbanks@cbsd.org) in the principal's office to ask about free and reduced yearbooks. If you qualify, she will transfer the funds. Please do not contact the yearbook advisers! Payments go directly to Jostens, the advisers can not grant free yearbooks or baby photos.
