A brand-new Full-Day Kindergarten program for all eligible students will enhance academic excellence by promoting reading by grade 3 and mastering math facts by grade 4.
- A more comprehensive curriculum includes extended instructional time for reading, writing, literacy, math, and other key subjects
- Extended program provides access to all Specials (Art, Health & PE, Library, Music, and QUEST)
- More time for individualized instruction increases opportunities for independent learning, classroom involvement, and productivity in work with peers
- More time for self-initiated and small group activities, and teacher-directed individual work
- Time for direct instruction in social skills
- Time for reinforcement of behavioral expectations
- Strengthens first-grade academic delivery model
Full-Day Kindergarten Pioneer Schools (2025-26)
Cold Spring, Doyle, Groveland, Jamison, Kutz and Mill Creek Elementary Schools have been selected to pioneer the full-day kindergarten program. Half-day programs will not be available at these schools. Families residing in pioneer school attendance areas cannot request enrollment in half-day programs at other schools, nor can families in half-day program areas request enrollment in full-day programs at pioneer schools.
Future Expansion
Full-day kindergarten will be offered at all schools starting with the 2026-27 school year.
