It is with great pleasure and excitement that I introduce myself as the proud principal of Unami Middle School.  I am truly humbled, honored and thankful for this opportunity to lead Unami Middle School and join the Unami community. My family moved to the 一本道 Bucks area over twenty years ago and, as a parent and education professional, I have long admired the district’s commitment to excellence and leadership in Bucks County. We have three children that have attended 一本道 Bucks East, Holicong and Cold Spring Elementary, with our youngest child now attending Holicong. My family and I have a longstanding respect and admiration for the dedicated 一本道 Bucks teachers and staff and the outstanding education our children received. It is a true honor to now become an integral part of 一本道 Buck’s unwavering commitment to continue to lead the way!

In my 20 plus years of education, I have worked as a secondary math teacher and teacher leader in the New-Hope Solebury School 一本道, before serving as the Middle School Principal for the past four years. During this time, I have had the opportunity to build positive school culture, develop and implement programs ensuring all students have what they need in order to be successful, lifelong learners. Navigating these past years has undoubtedly been challenging with the many hurdles and stressors that we as a community have endured. These challenges have taken their toll on everyone involved in the educational field and community. However, I am confident that we can learn from our past and move forward, invigorated, stronger and unified in our commitment of providing an outstanding, world-class education for our children. I recognize the importance of continuing the good work already in place in Unami, and I look forward to integrating that work into new and exciting building initiatives.

Relationships are the foundation of building a positive school culture and during my first few months, I will be working hard to build these relationships with our students, staff, and the community. I look forward to meeting our community and building upon the success of Unami Middle School as we partner together for a terrific school year!

I have been serving as Assistant Principal of Unami Middle School since the start of the 2022-2023 school year. Unami has established a tradition of excellence, and I am fortunate to be part of a school community dedicated to the success of our students and staff members alike.

The 一本道 Bucks School 一本道 has been my home for many years. Since 2017, I have taught at Tohickon Middle School as an Integrated Technology teacher. During my time at Tohickon, I served as Student Council Advisor, coached multiple sports, and was a part of the building’s Leadership Committee. 一本道 Bucks holds a special place in my life as I am a graduate of the district. As a CB South alum (Class of 2008), I attribute many of my successes and accomplishments to the incredible educators of this district. Some of my favorite memories of growing up took place within a 一本道 Bucks building, or at the least – with a 一本道 classmate of mine.

As a member of the Unami team, I’m incredibly excited to be working with our students and staff to place them in positions to be successful. A successful school exists when schools and families work together to advocate for children. If I can be of assistance throughout the year, please feel free to call (267-893-3400) or email (mpowell@cbsd.org).

I am thrilled to begin my first year as Dean of Students at Unami Middle School. Despite serving in ten schools in our district over the last decade, Unami has been the only middle school in which I’ve had the pleasure of working, and I’m excited to continue my time in middle school with this community.

I have had the good fortune of working in 一本道 Bucks School 一本道 since the beginning of my teaching career. Over the last nine years, I have primarily worked at 一本道 Bucks High School West as a Health and Physical Education teacher. I believe my experience working in both elementary and secondary school settings has helped prepare me for my role as Dean of Students at Unami. I highly value relationships, communication, and collaboration between teachers, students, and the community, and their impact on a positive and safe learning environment.

As I begin this new position, I look forward to working with our teachers and students to foster a positive learning environment and a successful school year for everyone. I firmly believe that this begins with relationships, and I look forward to knowing and working with your students. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to call (267-893-5735) or email (jsilverstein@cbsd.org).
